      APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR CONFIRMATION

The Candidates for Confirmation, whether male or female, should not be dressed casually as if for school or some recreational event.

Ladies should be dressed modestly keeping with the importance of the occasion.  Low cut dresses or spaghetti straps would not be appropriate.

Gentleman’s attire should be in keeping the importance of the occasion, though coat and tie are not required. Shirts do not need to be white.

Ripped jeans, t-shirts or mid-riffs would not be appropriate.

The color of Pentecost is red.  Candidates are encouraged to wear red, but it is not necessary.

Chewing gum should be disposed of before Mass at EVERY MASS.

You will NOT need to bring a bible, rosary or candle for the ceremony.

Purity and Modesty from the Catechism of the Catholic Church

Purity requires modesty, an integral part of temperance. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It is ordered to chastity to whose sensitivity it bears witness. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and their solidarity. Modesty protects the mystery of persons and their love. It encourages patience and moderation in loving relationships; it requires that the conditions for the definitive giving and commitment of man and woman to one another be fulfilled. Modesty is decency. It inspires one's choice of clothing. It keeps silence or reserve where there is evident risk of unhealthy curiosity. It is discreet.
